TESTIMONIALS

View from the cottage deck at high tide

Arriving off the Friday night ferry, wrecks from our over-busy city business; our hosts whisked us over the hills to “The Beach Bach”, a gem of a place on a secret hideaway beach. A quick meal and we crashed into that huge, comfy bed. What bliss. What I want to know is how, when I opened the curtains to a perfect dawn, you’d arranged for that pod of dolphins in the bay? I know hosts have been known to arrange some impressive stunts but that really was incredible. It seemed crazy to be walking along the shoreline at dawn in June with a camera, but I just couldn’t stay in bed – romance could wait! After lunch on the deck we traipsed all over the farm, learned the ways of mating Paradise Ducks, and generally marvelled that these stunning surroundings should be so close to the manic lives we live in Ponsonby. We were able to whip up a gourmet feast in the kitchen and pop open the bubbly as the full moon rose above the tide, which had returned to the edge of the deck. We watched the ebb and flow of the tide, before drifting off to snooze on that huge couch. Thank you both for a great weekend. Rowena Yalland and Michael Draper, Michael Draper Design Ltd

The Beach Bach is a perfect retreat. Great place to get away and relax. You've thought of everything. See you next time.

Our stay at the beach bach was not our most adventurous holiday ever but it was by far the most relaxing I think we’ve ever had. There’s nothing quite like going to sleep with the sound of waves and waking up to it. There’s definitely something to be said for having your own beach. If you can’t bear being out of range don’t worry - you can get Vodafone reception at the cottage and you can even get internet, but I would send out an email telling everyone you’ve gone to Botswana for a week so no one bothers you. I would definitely do another stay at the beach bach – there are lots of places to stay on the island but none as private, relaxing and romantic as this. We found there was everything there that we needed, what was so refreshing was what wasn’t there. No traffic sounds, no tourists, no staff, no hotels, no touts. It’s just a really lovely place to enjoy for its beauty and simplicity. Highly recommended.

"Two nights wasn't long enough, our host were great, they explained what we needed to know, then let us enjoy the seclusion and beauty of waiheke all by ourselves."

“An exceptional and beautifully appointed gem of a hide-a-way !. Just the right amount of privacy, sea at your doorstep and a view to die for. Even after 2 weeks we were sorry to leave. Much, much, more than a stop to recover from a long haul flight – actually, the Beach Bach is worth flying especially from Europe for! “ Helene Read

Amazing and unique location. "Lover's retreat". Thanks again, we really enjoyed ourselves

What a truly beautiful piece of paradise you have here. Thank you so much for allowing us to have the opportunity to share it.

One of the most relaxing places we have stayed. Morning sunsets, peaceful & quiet & secluded, great fishing, sheltered yet with the most fantastic views and a tastefully renovated cottage that has everything you need. Highly recommended. SCott & Hildergard Unsworth - NZ & Hong Kong

We couldn't have wished for a more wonderful setting for Christmas. An idyllic location and a beautiful cottage from which to enjoy it.

Arrived by helicopter to the perfect spot. Bring food, no need to go anywhere else on the island. We couldn’t have had a better honeymoon anywhere! Karen & Shane McNamara. - Hamilton NZ

"We were both looking to relax and unwind post the Christmas rush. As we live in the country we were looking for somewhere quiet but waterfront with great views and facilities. The Beach Bach was perfect, so good we didn't even use the car, the only regret is that we couldn't stay longer.

This was a holiday that we will always remember. Watching the sea from the recliners on the deck, or stepping out at midnight to catch the full moon over the waves, swimming in the warm ocean or messing around in the kayaks, this was a perfect escape. …We watched DVDs, drank too much wine and laughed a lot. We had nine days that did not belong in ordinary time, to be stored up and poured over when the winter comes. M & R, South Island, NZ

Awesome … peace and quiet. Kayaking, walking, fishing then a spa under the stars with a glass of red !! The perfect honeymoon for us. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of paradise with us. We will be trying to get back ! - Lez & Leone Kerrigan - Auckland NZ

A restful, private, quiet, beautiful, amazing spot. Recommended to All ! - Maria & Gary Newland – Auckland NZ

Beautifully peaceful and remote with totally perfect balance of luxury and simplicity. The top standard of the interior was beyond expectations. Felt like a home from home- if only home was as nice as this! Will definitely recommend. - Ian Brundrett – UK

We had a fantastic stay, only 5 meters from the water’s edge. Relaxing and hard to believe civilization is only a 10 min drive away. A real treat and ideal for those looking for some time out, in natural Waikeke Island. Thankyou for having us to stay. - Stuart & Kerryn - Auckland NZ

It was thoroughly relaxing, beautiful, peaceful private, exactly what we wanted for our anniversary. The massages were heavenly and being able to enjoy them with the lovely sea breeze was perfect. Even though we were only there for 2 days, it felt like a week worth of recovery from our hectic lives. We'll definitely be back one day, and will recommend the property to anyone wanting a peaceful break. - Ian and Teresa - Auckland NZ

The Beach Bach is an incredible place to stay, even in Winter. In fact even better than portrayed on the website, they have thought of everything. I never knew Paradise was so close to Auckland. We’ll definitely be back! - Paul Evans. - Auckland. NZ

The Beach Bach is an ideal spot to relax. With it's up-market decor, relaxing surroundings and the sea lapping at the shore line, it is second to none. A great get-away place, it was every thing that we asked for and more. – name withheld

Beautiful, surreal & so very peaceful - perfect place to spend time with someone special or to reflect. We only wish we could stay longer. Thankyou for your hospitality and for letting us stay in your piece of heaven. We will come again. Name withheld .NZ

“The Beach Bach is a perfect retreat for a couple wanting to get away from everything. We went on a special anniversary, but it would have been perfect for a romantic escape for any reason. Di & George were very helpful & friendly, and discretely distant. We got the impression that nothing would have been too much trouble if we have needed it. Our memories are of the seclusion, the views, the stars at night and the fish jumping at the water’s edge… Karen & Jeff Curley Auckland NZ

It was just a wonderful hide-a-way with complete privacy and tranquillity. Just what the doctor ordered. Next time we come back it will be for longer and I will be bringing my art and a good book. We loved sitting right at the waters edge with a bottle of Ridgeview Red, some Waiheke Oysters & olives, in complete privacy & quiet. Thank you and we’ll be back. ….Jo & Cary Gleeson - Auckland NZ
